Even if you do not have a job offer or family that could sponsor you, but you are a high achiever in your area of expertise, you may qualify for an SC 858 visa (Global Talent)
You have to:
- Obtain an endorsement by the Australian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Global Business and talent attraction. Please contact our office should you require assistance to do so
- Alternatively, you must:
- Have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the following areas:
- A profession
- A sport
- The arts
- Academia and research
- Be nominated by someone in Australia with a national reputation in relation to your area of expertise who is:
- An Australian citizen; or
- An Australian permanent resident; or
- An Eligible New Zealand citizen; or
- An Australian organisation
- Have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the following areas:
With an SC 858 visa you can:
- Remain in Australia permanently
- Work and study in Australia
- Qualify for Medicare
- Sponsor your relatives to come to Australia
- Travel to and from Australia for 5 years
- Ultimately become an Australian citizen
Indicative costs:
- Government visa application charges (VAC) – A$ 4180
- Registered Migration agent (RMA) charges - A$ 2850
- Other charges such as skills assessments, medical, police clearance, English test etc. are applicable and can vary. Also if applicable there could be second instalments of VAC in certain circumstances.
Eligibility:
- You must be of benefit to the Australian community
- You must demonstrate that you have the ability to establish yourself in Australia
- You must be currently prominent in your field of expertise with superior abilities to others in your field
- Be recognised as exceptional in any country where your area of expertise is practised
- Your record of sustained achievement is unlikely to diminish in the near future
- You must participate in an area of expertise that is recognised and accepted in Australia and has international standing
- There is no age limitation to apply for this visa. However, should you be younger than 18 or older than 55 at the time of the application, you will need to be of exceptional benefit to the Australian community
- If you currently hold an SC 491 or an SC 494, you need to have held it for at least 3 years before you can apply
- There are no English language requirements for this visa. However, should you not meet the requirements of Functional English, you will be liable for a second instalment of VAC, which amounts to AUD 4890. Please contact our office if you need more information
