As an aged parent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, you may qualify for an SC 804 Aged Parent visa to remain in Australia permanently
You have to:
- Be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
- Not have applied for or hold a sponsored Parent (Temporary) SC 870 visa when you apply for an SC 804 visa
- Be onshore in Australia when you apply
With a SC 804 Aged Parent visa you can:
- Stay in Australia as a permanent resident
- Sponsor eligible family members to move to Australia
- Ultimately become an Australian citizen
- Qualify for Medicare
- Work and study in Australia
Indicative Costs:
- Government visa application charges (VAC)
- First Instalment – AUD 4425
- Second Instalment – AUD 2065
- Total AUD 6490
The second installment is payable before the visa is granted. Currently, the waiting time for approval is around 30 years
- Registered Migration Agent (RMA) charges – AUD 3350
- Other charges such as medical, police clearance, etc. are applicable and can vary.
Eligibility:
- You must be sponsored by an eligible sponsor, which is usually your child in Australia. Please contact our office to learn more about the sponsorship
- You must meet the “Balance of Family” test. Please contact our office to find out if you do.
- You have to provide an assurance of support. This is a financial commitment provided by you to prevent you from relying on the Australian government for support after you have entered Australia on this visa
